New Orleans's Garden District is an amazing part of such a historical city. Audubon Park is a jewel in the gardens district's crown and is perfect for photography sessions. The Spanish moss dripping from the huge majestic live oak trees makes a perfect backdrop for any photographer. The park features several lakes, fountains, grassy areas, even a dog park and a zoo!
As a photographer, when I look for a location for pictures, I want a place that fits my fairytale style and has lots of variety for seating and many lighting options. I have a love affair with Spanish moss because it just looks so magical, hanging from the tree branches. It creates an effortless fairytale feeling in pictures, no matter what your subject! The backlighting through the trees is stunning in every season.
For this photo, I chose dresses from Tutu Du Monde, an Australian designer dress brand with a very vintage look. These two sisters looked amazing in the platinum color, and the translucent fairy wings caught the light perfectly. I wanted these girls to be together for this shot, but I didn't want them to be looking at the camera at all. I had the pair sit on the roots of this oak tree, and they were watching a family playing with a dog just out of frame. The sunlight coming through their hair and the ivy growing up the tree bark makes the perfect finishing touch to this portrait.
