If you are looking for unique dance photography in Atlanta or Athens, you have come to the right place! I've been a portrait photographer for 14+ years and I know how to light and pose a person beautifully. For dancers, the point is to show your skill, grace, and strength. I'll be just as critical of sloppy points and lazy arms as you are! You know what you're best at, let's show it off.
So.. you’ve scheduled your session for your Atlanta dance photography, what's next? Well, first up, let's pick a location. Do you want urban shots to show off you, or are you looking for natural greens and flowers to add beauty? Downtown Athens Ga is my favorite spot for dance photography because there are so many different looks available there.
Then we talk about dance clothes. What do you need to bring with you and what do you plan to wear? I prefer simple leotards and shorts or skirts that droop downward. These could be chiffon or tulle, just as long as they flow rather than stick out. A traditional pancake or platter tutu looks great for static poses, but flips up to cover the waist when leaping or jumping. I'd rather see and show off your body lines instead of the underside of that tutu. Hair could be up or down, since there won't be much turning on the rough sidewalks or grass. Tights are not needed for pictures but sometimes help your pointe shoes stay on better. When doing ballet photos, your shoes are the most important part.
The session will be about 2 hours long, where we'll walk through the location and pick spots to pose or jump in. If we're doing a jumping pose, you'll be asked to jump several times, then you can look over the images that I've gotten and fine tune your body.UGA Founder's Garden and North Campus (54).
