I provide couture dresses and wings for my child clients to wear for their photo sessions. After going to the salon for hair and light makeup, the girls are all ready to choose a dress. Some girls like long ones with ruffles and some prefer short tutu dresses. Each gown has a special quality to it that makes it right for that child.
When I buy designer dresses for my photography sessions, I buy based on a few things: quality, fit, and twirl factor. I know twirling is an off thing to base a dress purchase on, but if a dress doesn't twirl right for princess photos, then I don't want to use it because it means the little girl who wears it won't have as good of a time in it!
A lighter weight dress with always twirl best. The air gets under the ruffles and lifts each layer as she spins. That's why I like Anna Triant dresses. Each is built with a circle skirt pattern which makes them amazing to spin in because they can expand all the way around to get even more air in the skirt. Add in sunning sewing quality and little handmade touches, and that makes each dress a work of art!
